Living with a challenging child
If you are the parent of a child who regularly displays challenging behaviour, you will know how much of your energy and emotional resources are taken up by this. Challenging children struggle, and they let us know they are struggling in some fairly common ways: screaming, swearing, defying, hitting, disobeying, withdrawing, throwing or breaking things are all ways of showing their distress.
They typically have a limited capability to be flexible and to adapt to situations and can get overwhelmed quickly by frustration. In response, they can get agitated or aggressive. ADHD, panic and anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury and obsessive-compulsive disorder may also be associated with aggressive behaviour.
As a result of living with a child with behavioural difficulties parents may feel desperate or exhausted. Family life can be severely disrupted and the problems can extend into school, playschool or creche.
So what can you do to help your child?
Maybe you haven't thought of homeopathy yet.
Homeopathy has been found to be very effective in the treatment of children with emotional, social and behavioural issues. It recognises the fact that each child is different and needs to be understood and treated as an individual. As a homeopath, I prescribe on the totality of a person's symptoms - emotional, mental and physical, so two children with, let's say, ADHD will very likely require two different homeopathic medicines, depending on the individual circumstances.
So if your child is struggling - homeopathy can help them to regain emotional balance, enjoy life again to the full and to reach their potential!
